When the relay coil is energized (Q2 turns on), the relay contacts switch state: NO2 and COM2 close, while NC2 and COM2 open. When the coil is de-energized (Q2 turns off), the relay contacts revert to their default state, where NC2 and COM2 close again.

The primary difference between ES1B and ES1D lies in the maximum repetitive reverse voltage (VRRM). ES1B supports up to 100 V, suitable for lower-voltage circuits, whereas ES1D supports up to 200 V, ideal for higher-voltage applications.

Application recommendation:
If your circuit’s reverse voltage doesn’t exceed 100 V, the ES1B is sufficient. If there’s a possibility of encountering reverse voltages higher than 100 V, the ES1D is recommended for enhanced reliability and safety.

If you’re using the ES1B diode, remember it’s designed for applications around 100 volts—not 600 volts. If you’re dealing with higher voltages, say around 600 volts, you’ll want to use something like the ES1J diode instead, since it’s built specifically for higher-voltage scenarios. Typically, these fast-recovery diodes are great for things like high-frequency rectification in switching power supplies, providing protection against voltage spikes when you’re using inductive loads (think motors or relays), protecting your circuits from accidental reverse polarity, or handling voltage spikes with snubber circuits.
