MCT6 Pinout

The MCT6 is a dual-channel optocoupler, commonly used for signal isolation between low-voltage control circuits and high-voltage or noisy environments. Each channel consists of an LED (input side) and a phototransistor (output side), providing electrical isolation through optical transmission.
| Pin Number | Function | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Anode | Anode of the first internal LED (used to trigger the first optotransistor) |
| 2 | Cathode | Cathode of the first internal LED |
| 3 | Cathode | Cathode of the second internal LED |
| 4 | Anode | Anode of the second internal LED (used to trigger the second optotransistor) |
| 5 | Emitter | Emitter of the second phototransistor |
| 6 | Collector | Collector of the second phototransistor |
| 7 | Collector | Collector of the first phototransistor |
| 8 | Emitter | Emitter of the first phototransistor |
Usage Notes:
Pins 1–4 are for the LEDs (inputs): Make sure to observe correct polarity—connect anode to the positive voltage and cathode to ground via a current-limiting resistor.
Pins 5–8 are for the phototransistors (outputs): These can be configured in common-emitter or common-collector configurations depending on the application.
Ensure no direct electrical connection exists between the input and output sides—this is crucial for maintaining isolation.
Do not exceed the maximum LED forward current or phototransistor collector-emitter voltage, as specified in the datasheet.
Proper decoupling and grounding practices should be followed to minimize noise and interference in sensitive applications.
